Blog #10: The Final Blog

DATA COLLECTION
In my future high school English classroom, I could see myself using data collection to get feedback about certain subjects, topics, and lessons learned in class. How much did my students like the Shakespeare group project in our most recent unit? What are their thoughts about the most recent essay? I think student feedback is very important. As for data reporting, I think that having that data in an accessible space is important, and it also makes averaging and seeing trends easier.

BLOGS
This semester, I enjoyed seeing what other students’ wanted for their future classrooms, especially on how they’d integrate the technology we learned about in class (if at all!). I think it’s valuable to have others to share ideas with, and this was very helpful for me. I was able to develop new ideas for my class because of it. I also liked seeing all of the websites that people made and how they interpreted the assignments given.

UP NEXT
I would really like to learn how to use SMART boards and how to integrate them into class. Most students come into classes with a good grasp on Microsoft programs, and if we don’t know how to do something we need, we just use YouTube to figure it out. Having a grasp on technology like SMART boards isn’t something we know yet. I am planning on going to the Tech Sandbox to try my hand at SMART boards and get ideas on how to use them.

Big yeehaw for the final blog! I’ve loved blogging this semester, and I hope y’all have a great finals week!

See you Tuesday!

  1. Hey Callie! Wow this is our last blog post... so sad! Anyway, I think the way you can integrate surveys into your future classroom sounds great! I think that student feedback is crucial, and that's a great way to get it. Learning about SMART boards would be a great tool to learn. I know an overview of them, simply by exposure to it in high school and in the field, but becoming more competent in that skill would be great! See you around!

  2. Last blog post woo! I like your ideas about data collection. I wrote about using it for parent permission slips in my post, but receiving feedback from students is also a great idea! That way you can improve you lessons for future students.
